AB581: Path Act
TPW co-sponsored AB 581 (Carrillo) the Providing Access to Transformation and Healing (PATH) Act alongside GRIP Training Institute and Initiate Justice, which was signed into law by Governor Newsom. AB 581 (Carrillo) ensures that CBO Program Providers doing the vital work of rehabilitation and restoration inside CDCR have a simpler process of being cleared into the prisons.
We know this will be a slow process as this is entirely new, so please use the memo below as a guide for the new CDCR policy and fill out the AB 581 Clearance Reporting Form to help us monitor implementation. Sharing updates on clearances is the way that TPW can work on implementation and accountability. Your personal and organizational information will not be shared with CDCR.

1% Campaign
We ask that you channel your support, energy, and enthusiasm into lobbying legislators and staffers in the capitol and in your districts on behalf of our collective budget ask. Given the current state of California’s budget, we know this will be a tough year, and we will need all hands on deck to support more funding, access, and accountability.
We understand the impulse for organizations to pursue funding for their own programs. However, a collective strategy such as vehicles like the RIGHT grant put CBOs in a much stronger and more sustainable position. A collective budget ask is part of a larger strategy to shift the culture inside California prisons. If you have questions about this, please contact us.
This campaign is years in the making. Programs advocating on behalf of our budget ask and policy priorities will make all the difference!
To Support the 1% Campaign, We Ask the Following:
• Please raise up and support our collective budget ask and policy bill when in conversations with legislators.
• Please attend 1% meetings to get information about lobbying opportunities, policy priorities, and strategies.

CDCR Memo regarding the passage of Assembly Bill 581

Updated AB 581 Memo
This memo states: "As CDCR works to update the Department Operational Manuel (DOM) for the new process some of the forms in the standardized Program Provider packet will be updated too. The current 966 form asks persons to identify if they have ever been on parole and since discharged. If yes, they are directed to draft a letter to the warden explaining. With the implementation of this process that letter/memorandum will no longer be required, no program provider will be denied the ability to enter an institution for not drafting and or submitting this letter. The CDCR Form 966 will be updated to remove this verbiage later as part of the DOM updates."

CDCR Livescan form for statewide clearance
Submit this document to have the Livescan sent to the central CDCR database instead of being stored locally at the facility where the Livescan was conducted. This will ensure all facilities can access it via the CDCR database rather than needing to complete a Livescan for each facility.

To join the TPW Google email group:
Go to https://groups.google.com/g/_tpw and select where it says, for access try “joining the group.”
You will have an option to sync your profile if you are a gmail user, which means everyone in the group can see your profile.
Next you can choose what type of subscription you want from getting a email for every message posted, getting daly summaries (where up to 25 complete messages are combined into single emails and sent daily), combined updates (where summaries of up to 150 messages are combined into a single email sent daily), or not to get email updates which means you can only see the messages if you go to the Google group page.
To change you subscription:
Go to https://groups.google.com/my-groups and look for a column titled “Subscription” and look for the drop down menu in the row for _tpw@googlegroups.com (in case you are a subscriber of more than one group).
Change the drop down menu to your preferred choice.
To LEAVE the group:
Go to https://groups.google.com/my-groups and look for the left facing arrow icon with a line on the right side of the line for _tpw@googlegroups.com.
Note: You can also go to https://groups.google.com/my-groups and tick the star icon next to any group to add it to your favorite’s list.
